Little China in London
When you search for places before you goto London and ask “Where to go in London?”, you’ll come across “see Chinatown” on the internet or under many touristic maps. This town located in the Soho area used to be a place where Chinese tradesmen lived. Not favoured much back then, now it’s one of the most popular areas of London. There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants, markets and bazaars here. This chaotic atmosphere will surely carry you away. If you feel like eating at a local Chinese restaurant for a good price, then I’ll recommend you to go to Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant.
Fried Duck Above standards
It’s a local business where you can eat Chinese meals at a clean yet mediocre place. I like their sweet and sour soup. The reason is because the level of spiciness is high, and the quality of ingredients is at the top, and they don’t use frozen products in the soup. The sweet peas are not overcooked, so they are still very fresh. I’ve eaten shrimps in a sweet and sour soup for the first time here, but I find it fabulous,as these shrimps are fresh and not deep-frozen. The fried duck is above average compared to the standards of this place. Instead of having hard duck breast blended in sauces that takes hours to prepare at a Michelin starred restaurant, I prefer to eat this soft duck meat here. Moreover, I find pleasure in meat with vegetables on the side such as cucumber and spring onions. I feel spring onions suit well to this kind of meat, whereas, you can’t have this easily at a luxurious restaurant. They don’t ever serve you spring onions on the side anyway.
Another duck specialty is roasted duck. They roast his meat without skinning the fat part on the breast, and put plum sauce on top of this duck special. I prefer to eat flavoured fried duck rather than roasted duck, because I don’t enjoy eating the fat layer in roasted duck. I’d also advice you eat fried noodles with vegetables here. The quality of noodle is quite high at Chinese restaurants in İstanbul, but the quality of vegetables is extraordinary in London. You can taste the characteristics of each vegetable here.
One thing that I can recollect about this place is definitely the quality of ingredients at this Chinese restaurant. This humble place favoured by local Chinese is a good choice to eat delicious Chinese food.
